Manna For Mother

The Friend is a magazine from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This magazine is for our littlest members. When I used to work in the Primary with the kids I used to buy it all of the time. But now I am no longer in Primary so I don't look for it anymore. Joe's mom was up for a couple of weeks in July and she brought us the July issue of The Friend. There is an article that talks about a few relatives (The Mellor's) of Joe on his Dad's side. Here is the link...http://www.lds.org/portal/site/LDSOrg/menuitem.b12f9d18fae655bb69095bd3e44916a0/?vgnextoid=21bc9fbee98db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=c993e5e18be63110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&hideNav=1

I didn't realize that link would be so long. Anyhow....it is an article about some of the pioneers coming across the plains to the Great Salt Lake Valley. Joe's ancestors were part of the Martin Handcart Company. I am grateful for those pioneers who made the long and sometimes dangerous treck across the plains. What determination and strong testimonies they had! Had I lived in those times I am not sure that I could do the same things. They suffered so much yet continued on. My mother-in-law was telling me about one girl who had to have her braids cut off because they had frozen to the ground during the night. Many many many people were lost due to the terrible weather conditions that they came upon. I have a deep respect for all those that did endure and made it across the plains. Check out the article. It is titled Manna For Mother. Heavenly Father does listen and does answer our prayers.

Thanks for sharing that with us. I hadn't read all the stories in the friend yet. It is a beautiful story.

I read that story last month, yes I read the Friend I figure that I could use all the help that I can get. How do you teach your child the ABC's, numbers and church stuff so that she will know everything by the time she hits sunbeams... hahaha So I thought why not start with the Friend. It was a great story I loved it.
