Zachary Steven Davis

I'm finally back online to give everyone an update....Zachary Steven Davis was born nearly 2 1/2 weeks early on April 25th. After nearly 20 plus hours of labor the doctor decided that it would be best for both Zachary and I that he be delivered by C-Section. Good thing cause my little boy was not so little...10lbs and 21 inches long! As you can see from our family photo....all my son is missing is some hair on his chinny chin chin to look just like his daddy. He is definitely a Davis baby!
My parents came out from California and stayed for a week. And let me tell you what a blessing that was! Especially when it takes you about 10 minutes to inch your way out of bed. I'm grateful that they were able to come out and spend some time with their first grandson.
Joe's mom came the week after that. And we had a lot of fun with her here. It was nice to have people around to help with Zachary.
And then we (Zach and I) successfully had our first week on our
own last week.
Joe and I are truely blessed to have Zachary in our lives. I thank my Father in Heaven for him each day. In my opinion he is a really good baby. But then again this being our first I don't really have anyone to compare him too. I just can't complain about him. And as you can tell from the pictures he is such a cutie!!!!!!!!! You gotta love those cheeks!
Wait for more pictures and continued bragging about this adorable kid!

Operation Baby Room Complete

The finishing touches have been made. So.....Operation Baby Room is complete!!!!!!!!!!!! Joe has hung the new blinds. And if you can tell he put up some nautical rope inbetween the two colors. Love the room....love it love it love it!!! I think that we are as prepared as we can be. But I'm sure being first time parents there are bound to be some things that are missed. I need to make a list of things that we are missing just to be sure that we have all of the neccessities.
But for now we are just awaiting the arrival of our little man. Just 3 short weeks left. I cannot wait!

Dreams

So here is a lovely pregnancy dream that I had recently....

I woke up and discovered that I wasn't pregnant anymore. I found Joe in the baby's room and said, "Honey, I'm not pregnant anymore!" And he said, "I know!!!" And then I noticed that I was even thinner than I was before I got pregnant. (Every woman's dream) So I relayed that to Joe and he said, "I know!!!" So I asked where the baby was and he said that he was at the hospital still and that we should go see him. So we got in the car and drove to the hospital. I was so excited cause I was finally going to see what he looked like. =) So we are walking down the hall and all of a sudden Joe disappears. I go looking for him all over the hospital and where do I find him? In the cafeteria of all places! I asked him what he was doing and he said that they were short staffed in the cafeteria and he was helping them out. Oh the life of a chef! I just stared at him in disbelief. He said to go on up to the maternity ward and see the baby and that he would be up shortly. Of course my alarm went off just as I was going to see the baby. Guess I'll have to wait another three weeks to see my little man. At least this wasn't some crazy nightmare and just a funny dream.

Happy Birthday Grandma Davis!!!!

Grandma Davis' 90th birthday was back in March. And we all (meaning her large amount of offspring) decided to throw her a big celebration. We had family in town as far away as Delaware on the east and California to the west. It was great to get to hang out with family on Joe's side that we don't typically get to see. We had a luncheon downtown at the Lion House and then back to Grandma's for a HUGE-O family gathering. Check out the grand cake that Joe made for her. We decided that 90 candles might be a bit extreme so we put enough on for her to get the general idea. We must have had a minimum of 50 or so people. Since it was Easter weekend we also had a big egg hunt for all of her great grandkids to participate in. There was also a photographer there to take family pictures. As soon as I get my hands on the disc I'll post some of the pictures. All of Joe's sisters and brother were able to make it with there families. What a wonderful excuse to all get together!
Ninety is such a milestone! Grandma Davis is a blessing in all of our lives. She keeps us updated on the latest and greatest going ons in the family and keeps us all connected. She had such a grand time this past weekend and received some wonderful gifts.

ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Ok....things that one should NEVER say to a pregnant woman:

  • Are you sure you aren't having twins?
  • You haven't had your baby yet? (Especially when the pregnant women has quite a few weeks left to go)
  • It's ok...you are only going to get bigger.
  • WOW! Have your feet always been that big?
  • Your kid is going to be H-U-G-E! That is really going to hurt.

These things have actually been said to me on more than one occasion. BLAH! And a word to all of you out there that have had or have heard of really scary or abnormal pregnancies....I really don't want to hear about them right now. After I've given birth you can tell me all the stories you want to. Oh, and one more thing....DON'T STARE AT A PREGNANT WOMAN!!!! She (I) already feels subconscious about the way she looks and you are not helping!

K...I feel better...thanks for listening to my vent session!

32 Weeks!!!!

So here is a little prego update...

There are only 8 short weeks left until our "little monkey" (as Joe so fondly calls him) will make his appearance. I'm excited and a bit freaked out at the same time. I cannot wait to meet this little guy who likes to do rolls and kicks within the belly. I cannot wait to see his little face and fingers and toes. I cannot wait to tell him how much his dad and I love him. But becoming a parent...WOW...there is going to be this little person who will completely depend upon Joe and I. What a responsibility! But one that we feel up to the task.

I went to the doctor today. And despite my anxieties about my weight gain everything seems to be on track. We are still shooting for a due date of May the 12th. The doc says that he probably weighs about 3-1/2 to 4 pounds. Last night Joe and I were watching a movie and Joe had his hand resting on the belly. Baby Davis just kept moving around and kicking at Joe's hand. I love to see Joe's face light up every time that this happens. It makes me smile. Despite the movements of our little one at the most unconvienent of times, whether I am trying to sleep or just trying to drive to and from work, I just keep thinking that in the end it will all be worth it. Being pregnant is a wonderful thing. To know that Heavenly Father has blessed both Joe and I to be parents and to feel life growing within me is such an awesome feeling.

A little funny thing happened at church on Sunday...there was a couple sitting behind us who are going to have their first baby about a week after we are due. She is so tiny! Hard to believe that she is as far along as she is. Anyhow, her husband made a point to tell me that my belly button has popped out! How kind of him! I know that you cannot tell from the picture but it has popped out. It does look kind of funny but I like to think of it as a beauty mark for the duration of the pregnancy. Thanks Baby Davis!

Baby Shower

After looking at this blog post it looks like I put the pictures in all backwards. So maybe you should start from the bottom and work your way up. We were so blessed by the generostiy of everyone that came to the baby shower. Thank you thank you thank you! We are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.
If anyone knows me than they know that I am a huge baseball fan. My dad bought our little man his first Angels t-shirt with a little hat and shorts to match. We grew up watching the Angels. Joe is convinced that our boy is going to be a soccer star but we all know that he is going to be watching tons of baseball with his mommy. =) My aunt and cousins from Ohio also sent a cute little baseball outfit. Sorry Joe...all signs are pointing to baseball.
Here are my Davis sisters...Esther, Andi, and Heather. The only one we were missing was Rebekah.

Here is a pic of my sister-in-law and I....belly to belly. She is due about a week after I am. But you cannot hardly tell considering I am almost double her size! We are both having boys! And there is her son Benjamin in between the two of us.

These balloons were so cute!

Thanks to my mom and sister, Kameron, for throwing the baby shower in Cali. It was fun to see friends and family.
